A world where the seasons and the weather govern your decisions, where material possessions only count for what they can provide for you. The kind of place where money doesn’t count for much. Only what you can trade for yourself to provide food, water, and shelter and continue onwards in a beautiful yet difficult life on The Steppe.
Mongolia offers such an idealistic reality. In September, 2026 Curve Cycling will lead an off-road cycling / bike packing expedition into the wonders of this beautiful country. Laying all that is beautiful about this land and its wild people in front of your handlebars to experience in a once in a lifetime adventure.
This expedition seeks out those horse tracks and paths that weave their way across the endless green carpet that is stretched taut across the landscape. We will sleep in tented camps each night complete with amenities and cooked food prepared by local chefs. These tents will be erected in the middle of the Steppe, the ultimate wild camping! We will visit nomads and interact with them in their day-to-day lives. We will bear witness to the unique inner workings of the Yurt and what takes place inside the white round walls. We will witness unique sights, huge storms in the distance, eagles flying, yak roaming the grassy plains and nomads traveling on horseback.
This expedition will challenge riders with multiple mountain passes and the high altitude and desolate plains of The Steppe in the Altai Mountain Region. Riding on mixed surface roads the expedition will require a strong level of fitness to complete. Commencing and ending in the city of Ulaanbaatar. This part of the world is a time machine and rapidly changing. It is a must see in your life and to witness it from the bike is an unforgettable experience. Our route and itinerary have been designed by local experts well versed in local history, geography and culture along with our Expedition Guru, Gus Burrell @theguswagon who has bike packed within the interior of Mongolia himself.
